The Central New York-Puerto Rico Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate, AGEP, project is intended to significantly increase the number of domestic students receiving doctoral degrees in the sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), with special emphasis on underrepresented populations in these fields, i.e., African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Natives Hawaiians or other Pacific Islanders. AGEP is particularly directed toward increasing the number of minorities who will enter the professoriate in the STEM disciplines.
The mission of this conference is to expose our students to successful members in the STEM fields to share experiences, strategies and tips to help students prepare for and excel at every stage of their professional careers. This event offers a venue to interact with successful individuals from both industry and academia and develop strong network that will provide support throughout this beautiful journey. As part of the supportive environment that AGEP provides, we would like to take this opportunity to use the expertise of members from General Electric, Motorola and especially from Brookhaven National Laboratory to focus on innovation and technology. The theme of this venue was selected to be “Innovation and technology: Stimulating and Entrepreneurial Environment to Accelerate Technical Discoveries”.
