Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN) provides state-of-the-art capabilities for the fabrication and study of nanoscale materials. The experimental capabilities are arranged into laboratory facilities: materials synthesis, nanofabrication, proximal probes, theory and computation, electron microscopy, ultrafast optical sources, and an end station at the NSLS.

National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS) is a national user research facility funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. The NSLS experimental floor consists of two electron storage rings: an X-Ray Ring and a VUV (Vacuum Ultra Violet) Ring which provide intense focused light spanning the electromagnetic spectrum from the infrared through x-rays.
